How to set up your blog to make it more professional.

Setting up a website is not difficult in this generation unlike years back. 1. You determine your purpose,  2.Decide the structure of your site,  3. Decide your links.

These three easy steps would help you create a perfect website or blog of your choice.

The only thing you need for this part of the Web publishing process are Web browser, for doing research and either a pencil and paper or a word processing and drawing program -- whichever is more comfortable for sketching your plans and taking notes.

A few extra hours up front can save you a great deal of time later and help you produce a better Web page. Yet the planning/set-up step is the moat frequently overlooked  part of the Web publishing process.

These are the steps to follow when planning or setting up your Web site or blog :

  1. Determine the purpose of your site or blog.

Decide which type of site you want to create: Personal, Topical, Commercial(business) or Comical (entertainment)
If it's a blog, decide your niche: Fashion, Entertainment, Education, Children, Religious, News etc..

Make research on exiting sites and other media that serve the same purpose as the one you are about to create.

    2. Decide the structure of your site or blog and the layout of your pages.

The structure of your site can help guide readers to the part that interest them most. The layout of your web pages can make them more useful, more interesting, more entertaining or whatever is their purpose.

*Take note of these general rules:

•Decide how many pages to have and how they link to each other.
•Put the purpose of your site near your home page.
•Use headers, bullets, icons, and other graphical or emphasis elements to highlight key points.
•Indicate the purpose of additional pages near the top of each page.
•Use summary elements, such as a table of contents and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
•Put navigational elements,  links from your homepage to other pages on your site, and from other pages back to the homepage in a consistent spot at the top or bottom of each page.

   3. Decide what links to include.

A Web page that has no link is generally bad and not interesting. In step 2 you have decided which links to include between the pages in your site.

Now you have to include links from your pages out to other sites or blog. You may ask; What links are fun? What links makes sense?
The answer to these is to use the search engines to find suitable links.

*Note ; Create a folder to save links you run into while using the web to make them available to use at anytime.
